The ideal of virtuous continuity, in which the Morelato production philosophy has its roots, is also represented by the seat of the Aldo Morelato Foundation, a precious elegant palace from the seventeenth century in the middle of a beautiful green landscape, which has been handed on unchanged through the centuries.
After a long and accurate period of restoration, which has given the palace its original dignity back, Villa Dionisi became in 2004 the ideal place for an important new chapter in the history of Italian carpentry: the Aldo Morelato Foundation.
The Foundation has been grounded in order to promote, enhance and stimulate a culture of enterprise, as a tribute to the owner of the Company, who was the fi rst inspirer of this cultural project. The passion and competence of Aldo Morelato thus have become a reason of pride, a patrimony to hand on as well as a reason for study and an ideal to spread, a vehicle of the enhancement of a model, the history and identity of an enterprise, which intends to cultivate its links with the territory and to put its own cultural inheritance at the heart o f a fi rm project of development. The many projects which the Foundation has launched over the years are based on this thought.
The founding of an Outlook on Applied Arts in Furniture is part of the cultural project of the Foundation and aims at the promotion of design, research and development, the institution of workshops and professional courses, a centre of estimation and census of the existing patrimony. Another important initiative is the International Contest of Applied Art in the Furniture Field named “The Signifi cant Furniture”, a competition sponsored by authorities on all levels in which ideas, research and the efforts of the community of reference come together. In a synergic relation with the Competition the Aldo Morelato Foundation organizes every year the International Days of Study, thematic congress in which experts and professionals from the design and furniture fi eld meet and discuss.
The activities of the Foundation also include a permanent exhibition as well as several other temporary exhibitions, the publishing of different books and the organisation of thematic cultural events.
